Tessa Gonzalez Vasak
I started Evenstar Paperie in August of 2007 after designing my own wedding invitations. Having
never been particularly adept at art, I was going to recruit my sister, Annie, to cut, paste and glitter
my designs. Annie was 8 months pregnant at the time, though, and I didn't want to bother her, so
I did it myself. Lo and behold, somehow I'd learned to cut and paste!
When I showed my invitations to my future sister-in-law, she suggested I start my own business
designing invitations and, after some thought and a few additional samples, I did!
Before starting this company, I spent over 10 years in the field of education as a teacher,
curriculum specialist, assessment specialist, and registrar. Graphic layout and design had been
hobbies of mine since high school and I utilized these skills in all of my professional ventures, but
the creation of this company has allowed me to truly come into my own and be completely
creative. It is great fun!
I would not be so successful in this venture if it were not for the other people on this page. Their
talents and skills help keep this business going strong and I don't know where I'd be without
them!
My husband, John, and I were married in July of 2008. We currently live in a little house with a
lovely garden and our two cats, Luna and Finn. We also take great joy in being Auntie and Uncle
to our nephew, The Baby Fletcher. We hope to, someday, move into a house with more space
and a workroom (!), but, for now, our cozy little abode is holding up just fine.
Annie has been an artist since the age of 3 when she picked up a marker a drew
a striped whale that our mother made sure to have framed because it was so
good! As a teenager and young adult, Annie excelled in pottery, glass art, batik,
jewelry making, and most recently, fairy portraits. Somewhere along the line,
she also picked up sewing, bookbinding, scrapbooking, cake decorating,
cardmaking and a myriad of other artistic skills.
Annie is currently a guest artist for Evenstar Paperie and carries her own
ready-made line called Annemarie Designs. She is also our Party Invitation
guru and designs all bridal shower, baby shower and party invitations.
Most recently, Annie's husband, Michael, has joined the Evenstar Paperie
assembly line. He has taken to cutting paper like a madman! He's so fast! Annie
and Mike can get a relatively large project done in less than 48 hours, which is
quite an astounding feat considering they've got a 2-year-old to follow around!
Annie and Mike are wonderful parents to their son, The Baby Fletcher, who
happens to be the most adorable child in the whole world (and I'm not biased
as an auntie...it's just true). They live down the street from me with Fletcher,
Bianca (their cat) and Maggie (their very boisterous, but very cute puppy).

Tom & Regan Gonzalez
The tree from whence the apples came...AKA, my parents. These lovely people are quick to
help out with projects and I am so grateful to have them around!
My father, Tom, is an airline pilot by trade, but he also converted the playroom in the family
home into a framing studio and workroom. When he retires next year (after 25 years at Alaska
Airlines), he hopes to continue his framing business and, possible, take up the culinary arts (he's
a fabulous cook!).
If it weren't for my father, we might still be placing photo mounting tabs on the backs of
invitations to mount them! What a chore that was! He introduced us all to the world of the
ATG gun (a super-fabulous tape dispenser) and assembly has been smooth sailing ever since!
My mom, Regan, owned a small desktop publishing business when my sister and I were kids.
She did great resumes and newsletters and things. It is from her that I get my eye for text
placement and graphics, I think. She's the master!
These days, she is a writer and all-around fabulous person to be around. She is revered by her
daughters and sons-in-law as the queen of good advice and unbiased perspective... and, as my
dad likes to say, "she's cute, too!"
My parents recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary and are not only great workers
for Evenstar Paperie, but wonderful grandparents to The Baby Fletcher. They currently live in
Gig Harbor, Washington, with their two cats, Sam and Pippin.
Christina Penrose
Chris has been working with Evenstar Paperie since October of 2008 and is one our finest
assemblers! Chris is incredibly detail-oriented and consistently does exquisite work. Whenever
I've got a tough project (or one that has to be practically perfect in every way), Chris gets it!
Chris currently lives in Puyallup, Washington, with her two beautiful young daughters, who are
quickly moving up the ranks on the Evenstar Paperie assembly line. We hope to officially hire
her oldest as soon as she turns 14 (which won't be for a few years)! The girls help out with
ribbons and little things for now...most recently, I had them paint over 100 popsicle sticks light
pink for a client's fan program. They did a great job!

Jennette Morris
Jennette has been working with Evenstar Paperie since the spring of 2009. She is our ribbon
queen! She loves working with ribbon and always does a great job! Jennette has a background
in graphic design and art from the Seattle Art Institute and a great enthusiasm for her work. We
are very pleased to have her on staff!
Jennette currently lives in Puyallup, Washington, with her husband, Justin.
